Welcome from our Headteacher

Welcome back to Summer Term ’23!

I hope that you managed to fit in some time enjoying the more summery weather over the half term break – so welcome after recent rainy times. Life feels so much easier when we are not struggling with outdoor clothing, mud, wet and cold. We are really looking forward to the lovely trips planned for the last few weeks of term; let’s hope it stays sunny.

Carefree basking in the sun invites ease, reverie and also reflection. We invite children to think about how far they have come in their learning since last year and celebrate their work, displaying their accomplishment in book looks and play presentations and ceremonies to mark the closing of the school year, from the kindergarten/class 1 transition ceremony to a formal goodbye for our older leavers.

We are also welcoming new families into our community and a new teacher into class 1. Watch this space for information on how you can assist incoming families to manage settling in.

In our faculty, now is the time to plan what we as a school will take into academic year 2023/24, and which school elements we will leave behind or adapt. I have spent a lot of time in my first half term listening to school families, school children and to staff. This half term is to start to translate that listening into action. This starts with the school culture sheets going out this week and a number of other initiatives to start next term off well – watch this space!

With warmest regards from me and all the faculty,

Sarah

Announcements, Reminders and Important Information

A few reminders:

Parents please be aware that the Snuff Mill bridge will be closed from 9am until 4pm from Tuesday 6th June for two weeks while the National Trust carry out an external decoration project. Please walk round over the other bridge and through the Rose Garden entrance, thank you for your cooperation.

Woodland Craft Summer sessions still require long, tough trousers, please. Shorts, skirts and dresses don’t protect from stings and thorns, and restrict students from participating in activities.

Please remember to order your child’s Class Photo by Friday 9th June. An email with order details was sent by Tamara before Half Term.

For children attending afterschool clubs, please could parents provide them with an extra snack to have at the end of the school day to keep their energy levels up, thank you.
