Need a Nursery in the Twickenham area?

Holistic Twickenham Nursery

The London Acorn School is nestled between a rose garden and a meandering stream, set within 125 acres of National Trust parkland. The beautiful surroundings of Morden Hall Park provide a safe haven for our alternative nursery provision.

The London Acorn School offers a range of pre-school and nursery options to suit your needs, from weekly parent and baby classes, such as Acorn Muscial Maestros and Acorn Adventurers, to the Steiner Waldorf inspired Kindergarten. The London Acorn School promotes imagination, exploration, curiosity and an adventurous early childhood, making it a nurturing and stimulating place for your little one to start their learning journey.

Our school offers nursery-aged children a rich programme of outdoor activities, arts & craft and sensory play, while still meeting the criteria of the different areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The staff are dedicated to the holistic development of your child, accounting for the needs of them individually, and ensuring that they learn at a pace comfortable to them.

Our facilities are spacious, bright and homely, low tech in the early years.

Forest Nursery Twickenham

Outdoor learning is a vital aspect of the curriculum at The London Acorn School. We are fortunate to have access to a wide area of green space; Morden Hall Park is only 45 minutes from central London. Not only do children enjoy playing in the outdoors, but they learn, too: whether growing their own produce, studying science or developing their woodland crafts, the outdoors is their classroom. Our pre-school and nursery provision at The London Acorn School offers children regular access to outdoor learning with opportunities to explore the woodlands with our trained staff (read more about Forest Schools).

After being greeted by our Kindergarten teachers all our children begin the day with circle time, sharing a song, actions and movement. The rhythm of the seasons is imparted to all the children through songs and stories and the tone of the day is set.

A typical day might include a hands-on project in the morning that is designed to develop useful skills and independence, such as gardening or cooking. The smells of delicious soup or bread often permeate the cottage. Meals are taken around one large table, with children practising taking it in turns to share their news or discussing a guided topic as a group. On any given day the children are involved in music, woodwork, art and making and mending toys.

A Magical Natural Beginning…

Morden Hall Park is a wonderful resource for all our children and the children take a daily walk to what the children refer to affectionately as the ‘Kinde tree’. Hammocks and ropes are strewn between branches and digging, and den building is a part of the daily exploration of nature. Firm friendships are forged, as are the abilities to cooperate, negotiate and communicate well. The opportunities for our children to engage daily with nature is one of the cornerstones of our early years’ education.

Children remain in our Kindergarten until they are six years old and they enjoy a wonderful engaging exciting curriculum before joining our Class One. Careful transition ensures that our Kindergarten ‘graduates’ are eager to learn and the delayed start is certainly no barrier to academic, social and emotional development.

A TLAS pupil is confident, secure, eloquent and a critical thinker and this journey begins in our Kindergarten.
