Welcome from our Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

Not just the end of the week today, but the end of our first half term of this academic year, and my first half term as Head. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have welcomed me into this wonderful community, and as I reflect back on this half term, I realise what a vibrant, fun filled and warm community it is. Over the course of Walk and Talks, Parent Rep meetings, Open Days, Open Classroom, Curriculum Evenings and everything else we have invited our community into our school and I have got to know every special part of what makes us unique here at The London Acorn School. Our children are happy, thriving and safe here and we can see that in every lesson, every woodland craft session, every music session, craft lesson, assembly and playtime.

On Monday we invited Kindergarten into assembly for the first time this year, and together we celebrated all the love we have poured into the community this half term. You can’t say it more clearly than one of our lovely Kindergarteners who raised his hand and told me happily “I love our school!”. Quite right, and we do too.

Today the children’s independence and maturity was on show as we roasted apples in the playground to celebrate the end of the half term. How lucky we were, kneeling around the fire pit, all of the children reflecting on their achievements in the last few weeks, enjoying some special time together.

Finally, a special mention for Willow Class, who had a fantastic trip to Pollock’s Toy Shop in Covent Garden on Monday. They were super sensible and polite, and a fantastic example for the rest of the school. Well done Willow, we’re so proud of you.

I wish all of our children and our families and restful and relaxing half term. Stay safe, and come back to us for even more learning and laughter in November.

Have a lovely holiday.

Kind regards,

Rachel
