Welcome from our Headteacher

It is so wonderful to see all our learners back for another year at The London Acorn School. It was such a pleasure watching their happy smiles and their enthusiasm this morning. A parent can be sure their child is growing up confident and independent when they leave for that first day of term and forget to say goodbye – even if it breaks our heart just a little!

It was a week of new starts for many of us, staff and students alike, and I loved how we all pulled together and helped each other out. I certainly had more than one little nudge from our learners when I was headed in the wrong direction…

Other new introductions which we have enjoyed are the addition of some new clubs and our morning and afternoon home room. Our shuttle bus to and from HSW has also made some parents’ lives so much more straightforward – less battling through south London traffic is always something to be welcomed.

Our teachers have been working hard over the summer to ensure that this year’s learning is as engaging and as fun packed as ever. The school is looking sparkling thanks to our maintenance and housekeeping team and our classrooms are bright, calm spaces which our teachers have carefully readied in anticipation of the learning to take place this year. New displays have gone up and new resources have been unpacked.

I’m sure we’ll have some tired children this weekend. I hope they find time for some rest and relaxation, ready to begin another week filled with opportunities on Monday.

In the meantime, if you need to contact me, please use head@thelondonacornschool.co.uk

First week back – tick!

Kind regards

Rachel

  • We would love to invite some parents/grandparents in to read with our children on an ad hoc basis. If you are interested in coming in to help, please email Rachel at head@thelondonacornschool.co.uk. We place our volunteer readers in a different class to the one their child is in.
  • Our after school provision on a Friday afternoon may be booked on an ad hoc basis. Please let the office know by 9am Friday if you wish to use the afternoon provision as a one off. Those parents who have blocked booked for Friday afternoons do not need to contact us. Pickup on a Friday from the afterschool provision can be any time up to 5pm. When thinking about your timing please bear in mind it takes a few minutes for your child to tidy up and be ready if it is mid-session.
