The Class Three group explored their measurement tools during the home learning period. What an excellent opportunity to take our learning out into nature. We measured all the interesting leaves, rocks, trees and even some slow moving creatures like worms and snails.
We did not only use rulers! We discovered that if we need to measure girth, that we would need to use a tape measure instead. Often the tape measure exercises saw the children needing peers, siblings or parents to support them. We encourage the children to explain what help they need.

We measured thick trees and we measured thin trees, always remembering to start at zero on the number line.
