Welcome from our Headteacher
Artist David Hockney calls the time when the hawthorn is covered in white blossom, and the hedgerows turn into a froth of flowers ‘Action Week’, and I can see what he means as I look around the sudden change that has overtaken nature in Morden Hall Park. We are so lucky to be through another winter and into the warmer days of summer term; I feel very happy and lucky to be here at school in such beautiful surroundings, ready with our great teaching team to welcome the children back to their classrooms. We are having an ‘action week’ of our own, with the focus on ensuring strong and ongoing community life.
We have so many community events planned for the half term ahead, including a formal welcome to summer with maypole dancing, our first Open Day since the pandemic and even a visit from choristers from Oslo. Please keep an eye on the nutshell calendar to ensure you don’t miss out. Our first event open to school parents will be a whole school assembly in the Hall on Wednesday 3rd May. If you would like to attend please step into the office after drop off and sign in on that day. If I don’t see you then, I look forward to meeting with you soon at drop off and pickups at the school door.
From next week, I have scheduled ‘walk and talks’ for families of different classes after Friday drop off. If you would like to chat anything through in the meantime please make an appointment to meet with me in person on Monday or Friday at start of school. Summer is often a time of transition, expanding energy and exploration of new areas. It is a joy to join students, families, carers and teaching colleagues on the road to summer ‘23.

A few reminders:
- With longer days and warmer weather, it is a joy to spend time in Morden Hall Park after school. As ambassadors of the school, we ask families to extend the culture and ethos of TLAS beyond the school respecting the National Trust park and one another.
- Please find the Summer Term Calendar below. There are lots of events taking place that parents are welcome to attend, including some new events, so please make a note in your diaries.
- It was lovely to welcome Kindergarten parents to join in our Morning Song in the garden this morning. Usually this will take place on a Monday morning throughout the Summer Term, unless there is a Bank Holiday, in which case, Tuesday mornings.
- Monday 1st and Monday 8th May are Bank Holidays so there will be no school on those days.
